Saving The Wedding Cake

So a way to save money!
Make your own Wedding Cake. Brides I don't mean you make it, have a creative member of your wedding make it (In lieu of a gift perhaps!)
This is a cake that I made for a friends wedding. It's white cake with a raspberry cream filling and a white chocolate buttercream frosting. It cost me about $50 dollars, 200 dollars less then the cheapest wedding cake I've seen.
The flower garland connected with florist wire and green florist tape. It's super easy!

On a side note: Although it's a great tradition I highly suggest that you don't save your cake for your 1 year anniversary. When my sister did it turned into a soggy mess hidden in fondant after thawing out. Not the memory you should have of your wedding cake.

So if you had a tattoo would you cover it or show it on your wedding day?

Also, if any of you have a wedding under 15,000 please submit it to bregeste@gmail.com and let me know how you did it?

First Post: A Family Wedding under 15,000

Ok, so this blog title has been awaiting a great idea to go with it. I believe that I have figured it out. This blog will show case weddings that have a budget of 15,000 dollars or less. The first is that of my sister, Alessandria. Whose goal was to have a beautiful family wedding for under 15,000 dollars. When searching for ideas Alessandria and I were searching family weddings on a budget and it seemed to result in a bunch of weddings that had a guest list of under 100 people which was the largest problem. Alessandria and I are from a large family and she married into a even larger family. So with a guest list of over 200 people the budget was being stretched thin. Here is her beautiful but thrifty wedding.

Rather than paying for expensive table settings Alessandria bought all of her dinnerware and cutlery from www.smartyhadaparty.com which sells stylish plastic-ware that looks nice and is sturdy. Rather then appetizers the tables were each set with a wooden cutting board (made by a close family friend) that had an assortment of chesses, grapes, and bread that was home-made by her brother. She also saved money on the floral arangements by having the bridesmaids go and help the flourist put them together along with the bouquets.

And as favors the bride spent three days making mixed berry jam and then made labels that said things like, "We go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly" & "For the Toast!"
For a cheaper venue they stayed in the small community that Alessandria grew up in and rented the ground of the Historic Georgetown building, The Hamill House. A beautiful victorian house that is part of a outstanding mountain town. Where all of the the guests were lodging and could easily walk to the wedding venue.

Also, Alessandria's father performed the ceremony while one of her uncles walked her down the aisle. Which was both endearing and saved money.

Thanks to all of the contributions from family and friends, Alessandria and Danny were able to create a beautiful wedding for 200+ people while remaining in a budget of 15,000 dollars.
